of the 2018 Tour de Timor
Official press release for the Tour de Timor
For Immediate distribution, dated 9 August
One of the longest partnerships for Timor-Leste’s flagship sporting and tourism event has once again been confirmed as Timor Telecom proudly announced their sponsorship for the 2018 Tour de Timor.
‘Over the years the Tour de Timor has had many private sector supporters,’ Mr. Johnny Guterres, the Tour de Timor official spokesperson said, ‘however, Timor Telecom has a special relationship with the race, having been involved since the race began.’
The in-kind sponsorship from Timor Telecom will provide vital communications support for race organisers, volunteers and of course the riders. Mr. Guterres went onto say: ‘This year Timor Telecom will enable us to provide great internet access at the camp, allowing our riders to update their friends and families about their progress. By connecting the world to Timor-Leste and our race to the world we aim to reinforce the reputation of Timor-Leste as a safe and exciting destination for tourists and investors alike.”
As well as the in-kind sponsorship Timor Telecom has included the invaluable SMS texting service informing residents of the events and consequent road closures.
Manuel Joaquim Capitão Amaro, the Country Director for Timor Telecom, said “It’s always a great honor for Timor Telecom to support Tour de Timor and this year is no exception. Through these years of this partnership TT has always been satisfied with the results of the organization and every year we try our best to respond positively with the support that we are able to deliver. I wish the best of luck to all the cyclists and with Timor Telecom’s help let’s promote Timor-Leste to the world through Tour de Timor.”
The Tour de Timor is between the 4th and 8th September. Over 5 days riders will travel over 430 kms and 10,000 meters of climbing. These stats make the event one of Asia’s most famous MTB races and one of the toughest endurance events in the world. For more information please check our website or find us on Facebook:
