Welcoming Timor Resources’ Managing Director, Suellen Osbourne, to the event headquarters in Dili event organisers were very pleased to acknowledge the $50,000 USD cash sponsorship for the 2018 Tour de Timor.
Mr. Johnny Guterres, Tour de Timor spokesperson has this to say: “The Tour de Timor would like thank Timor Resources’s generous sponsorship of the race. By engaging quickly Timor Resources’s sponsorship has enabled us, as race organisers, to jump start many important initiatives for this year’s event. In particular the development of the camp site at Aileu has been accelerated – one of the main results of this is that Timor Resources’ sponsorship has actually directly benefitted the communities around our campsite, through directly providing employment opportunities at the grass roots level.”
Over the final two weeks before the race kicks off, the campsite of Aileu will become a hub of activity as organisers begin to engage dozens from the local community to assist in new construction projects and preparing the Aileu site for the upcoming race.
Mr. Guterres, went onto to say: “Thanks to Timor Resources we can immediately engage in transforming the Aileu site dramatically. In addition Timor Resources’s sponsorship has allowed a small team of three australian bike mechanics to arrive shortly in Timor-Leste. While this team is in country they will provide mechanical support to Timorese riders, enabling them to train and compete at the highest level.”
